関西学院大学社会学部卒業（社会心理学ゼミ）。卒業後、米国ウィスコンシン州教育庁が主催する日本語教師派遣プログラムに参加。日本語を教えていた小・中・高校でラオスからの難民であるHmongに出会い、ベトナム戦争に巻き込まれて難民となった複雑な境遇を知る。Hmong難民が多く居住するラクロス市(University of Wisconsin- La Crosse)において教育学修士号を取得後、ニューヨークの日本人学校にて勤務。

　帰国後もアメリカで出会ったHmong 難民の存在が忘れられず、神戸大学大学院国際協力研究科博士後期課程に入学。Hmongの出身地であるラオスで調査をい博士号（学術）取得。日本学術振興会特別研究員、大阪大学人間科学研究科助教、神戸大学国際交流推進本部特任准教授（戦略的大学連携事業「アクティブ・ラーニング型学生派遣・受入プログラムの構築を通じた広域的な大学間連携」学生派遣プログラムコーディネータ） 、京都大学、神戸大学等非常勤講師 を経て兵庫県立大学環境人間学部教授。現在に至る。

Miki Inui (Professor, University of Hyogo)
Her research interest lies in education for minority groups (ethnic minorities, newcomers, refugees), educational disparities, and multicultural education.
She received her Ph.D. from the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies, Kobe University after receiving her master at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and teaching at schools in the US for several years. She worked for the Department of Human Sciences at Osaka University as an Assistant Professor, a Project Associate Professor in the Office for the Promotion of International Exchange, Kobe University before taking up current position.
